ABCONTROL, together with ABB Switzerland personnel, commissioned the STATCOM-type static VAR compensators for proper load management of the National Electric System (SEN) at the PIER Wind Farm located in the municipalities of Cañada Morelos, Chapulco, and Palmar de Bravo.
Our staff, specialists in low-voltage systems and communication protocols, along with substation control engineers, carried out the commissioning protocol for these systems in collaboration with ABB Switzerland, who remotely validated every tested point to successfully bring these critical systems for the wind farm operation online.
PIER is the sixth wind farm of the power generation giant IBERDROLA, and through this project it is expected to supply Grupo Modelo with 490 GWh per year. This initiative supports Grupo Modelo’s transition toward clean energy, in line with its global commitment for 100% of its energy consumption to come from renewable sources by 2025.
